Phuket and Krabi can offer attractive resort prices, but rougher water and disrupted boat plans weaken a short island-hopping itinerary. Bangkok and Chiang Mai remain viable when the schedule can bend around heavy showers. Singapore’s dense MRT network and indoor options make it the easiest city to weather-proof.

Rain changes the day, not always the trip
Mainland showers are often concentrated enough to leave useful sightseeing hours, but localized flooding and slow traffic can turn a packed cross-city plan into a frustrating one. In Chiang Mai, the rain restores green landscapes and can make the atmosphere feel fresher, though mountain roads and full-day outdoor plans need more caution after sustained rainfall.
Singapore’s Southwest Monsoon is climatologically drier than several other parts of the year, but humidity, thunderstorms and occasional squalls remain normal.
